Rubik's Cube Answers A Bible Question

Why are there 4 gospels? Why did God give us four books that tell us about the ministry of Jesus?  Wouldn't one book be enough?

This question can be answered by a Rubik's Cube.  If you don't know what a Rubik's Cube is, it is a cube that has 6 different colors, one on each side.  And each side has 9 sections that can be turned and messed up beyond belief. Some people have made contests on who can solve it the fastest.  I don't think I could get it if I worked for 22 years.

Why can't they all be mountain top experiences?

Our text today is in the book of Matthew.  We are going to be reading from
Matthew 3:16 - 4:1

Lets begin reading.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Jesus is having what we would call a mountain top experience.  Meaning that everything seemed to be going well. It is those times when you find out you got an A on that test you were studying so hard for, or you got the promotion at work.  That is a mountain top experience.

The Secret Sin

Today we will be in Jeremiah chapter 18.

Let me set the scene.  Israel (God’s chosen people) have split themselves into two kingdoms.  Israel and Judah. Both of them have had their own kings and those kings have led the people away from God.  In fact, they have been worshiping false gods and even sacrificing their children to these gods.  They have been living sin for years and God is tired of it.

Enter Jeremiah.  Jeremiah was a prophet of God, and he never, not once in all his time of preaching saw one person turn from the sin they were doing and turn to God.  In the world today he would be looked at as a failure, but God sees him as a success because he obeyed.

Ok now for our text.  Jeremiah 18 verse 1.

1. The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
 2. Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

I love pens.

Ok. I admit it.  I am addicted to pens. Ballpoint, felt tip, fountain pens.  I love pens.  You might say that I am a penaholic (n. someone who is addicted to pens). My wife would say that I am.  I collect them, probably more like hoard them.  I love pens.  Why?  I don't know.  I guess it is because you can write anything you want with a pen.

When an author writes a best selling book we praise the author, not what they used to write the book.  That is what I want.  I want God to use me to write and inspire, but I want Him to get the glory for it.   I want to be God's ballpoint pen.
